Multidisciplinary site investigations: refraction microtremor surveys

چکیده

Abstract We present three case studies from recent site investigations that have utilised geophysical data to supplement traditional geotechnical investigations. The refraction microtremor (ReMi) method, which measures the shear-wave velocity of subsurface soil profile, is used enhance our overall understanding conditions. Interpolation closely spaced one-dimensional velocity-depth profiles along linear arrays allows two- or three-dimensional velocity-versus-depth representations be produced, thereby mapping lateral variations and extending characterisations between more expensive spot borehole measurements. ReMi technique provides a non-invasive cost-effective way estimating vertical soil/rock versus depth therefore an effective reconnaissance tool for targeting key areas further, intrusive investigation method. This paper examines contribution assessments can make towards enhancing geological models mitigate risk unforeseen ground Case demonstrate benefits incorporating estimates into These include identifying thickness basalt flows, location buried stream channels, characterising palaeo-topographical features, low may prone liquefaction, assessing within units test pit locations. objective not replace but allow meaningful developed.

it is very important to study and simulate s-wave structure for near surface (alluvium parts, in particular) owing to its direct relationship to urban facilities in geotechnical and earthquake engineering studies. so, in seismic microzonation, the first step is to study and identify s-wave pattern in alluvium in order to categorize different parts of cites according to s-wave velocity. current ...

geological conditions of tabriz, a growing city in nw-iran, are strongly influenced by north tabriz fault (ntf). north tabriz fault is a major seismogenic fault in nw-iran. so, for a correct seismic microzonation, shear wave velocity (vs) structure in different part of city should be determined. but urban conditions, such as ambient noise due to cultural activity, restrict the general applicati...

Current treatments and promising investigations in a multidisciplinary setting.

The care of the patient with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) requires a multidisciplinary approach. For many years, radiotherapy following surgery was considered the standard approach to the treatment of locally advanced resectable disease. Data from randomized trials have confirmed the benefits of concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy (chemoradiotherapy) in this setting...

Human Supervision of Robotic Site Surveys

Ground operators will interact remotely with robots on the lunar surface to support site preparation and survey. Astronauts will interact with robots to support outpost buildup and maintenance, as well as mission operations. One mode of interaction required for such operations is the ability to supervise robots performing routine autonomous tasks. Supervision of autonomous robotic activities re...

Effect of age on ocular microtremor activity.

BACKGROUND Ocular microtremor (OMT) is a high-frequency tremor of the eyes. It is present in all individuals and is related to brainstem activity. The OMT signal appears as an irregular oscillatory movement with intermittent burst-like components. The clinical interest in OMT has centered on its use in the assessment of the comatose patient, with broad agreement among authors of its prognostic ...
